Maryville Police Department Reports Missing Maryville Man Found Dead In Loudon County

The Maryville Police Department said Wednesday that a missing man was found dead last weekend.

Robert T. Schultz was last seen on the night of Monday, July 23. MPD Chief Tony Crisp said his body was found Saturday evening in Loudon County.

Chief Deputy Jimmy Davis with the Loudon County Sheriff's Office said a complaint prompted a deputy who lived in the area — near the Blount County line — to investigate. Crisp confirmed that a decomposing body was recovered and on Tuesday an autopsy was performed at the Regional Forensic Center. Investigators are still working to determine Schultz's cause of death.

According to Chief Davis, Schultz's truck and cell phone were found Friday in Loudon County in two separate locations from where his body was found the following day.

The Maryville and Alcoa police departments are working with LCSO to continue the investigation.
