Twins Pulled From Pond In West Knox Friday, One Dead, One In Critical Condition At Children's Hospital; Go Fund Me Page Up

A little boy is still in critical condition Saturday evening at East Tennessee Children's Hospital after he and his twin sister were pulled from their babysitter's pool in West Knoxville on Friday.

The call came in around 10 a.m. the 8000 block of Fox Lonas Road, according to Rural Metro Fire. The babysitter told the Knox County Sheriff's Office that another child came around 10 a.m. and she noticed the twins — Elyssa and Elijah Orejuela, almost two years old — were missing. They were found in the deep end of the pool.

Rural Metro Fire said adults pulled the twins from the pool and begin CPR until officials arrived.

The kids were taken to East Tennessee Children's Hospital by ambulance. KCSO said Elyssa died and Elijah was put on life support. A spokesman for ETCH told WVLT News on Saturday evening that Elijah is still in critical condition at this time.

On Sunday morning, a hospital representative said that his condition was still critical.

According to records information with the Tennessee County Clerk's Office, the house was registered in 2015 as an in-home daycare called OM Baby.

More details will be released as the investigation continues. KCSO said the Department of Children's Services is investigating as well.
