Kentucky Man Arrest Man After He Allegedly Bites Infant Son On Face

Kentucky State Police arrested a man Monday after he allegedly bit his infant son on the face.

Troopers went to the Barbourville ARH Emergency Room where a three-month-old boy was being treated for a bite injury. They were told the bite came from the baby's father, Eric Bays.

After police tracked down Bays, he told them he was watching his son Sunday night and became frustrated when the infant would not stop crying.

Bays tried several things to calm the baby. When those did not work, troopers say Bays admitted to becoming angry and biting his son on the left cheek above his jawline.

"There are so many different solutions that could have taken place here. Whether it is laying the child in the crib, walk away from the situation for a few minutes. Contact a family member. Ask for help. There's nothing wrong with asking for help. Especially if you are a new father," said Shane Jacobs, with Kentucky State Police Post 10.

According to a citation, Bays said he knew he should not have bit his son and wants to find help for his anger.

Bays was charged with second-degree criminal abuse of a child under 12. He was taken to the Knox County Detention Center.
