Two Knoxville Sisters Charged With Second Degree Murder After Trying To Run Over Four People With Car

Two sisters face attempted second degree murder charges after Knoxville Police say they ran over four people with a Nissan Altima.

At 9:10 p.m. Tuesday, officers received reports of a fight in the Washington Pike and Whittle Springs Road area. While officers were in the area responding to another call, dispatchers said several minors had been struck by a car at Fairview Street and Washington Pike.

When officers arrived on the scene, they reported finding four victims that had been hit by a car. Three of the four victims were transported to area hospitals for non-life threatening injuries, then released. The fourth victim was not taken to a hospital.

According to KPD's preliminary investigation, the four victims and two suspects were involved in a "confrontation" at Belle Morris Elementary School earlier in the day. After the reported fight, the four victims were walking down Fairview Street when they noticed a Nissan Altima speeding down the street.

Officers said the victims ran from the car, but the vehicle ran off the road striking them before leaving the scene.

The victims gave police the identity of the driver and passenger in the Altima. Investigators detained the sisters for questioning and reviewed evidence with the Knox County District Attorney General's Office.

Both sisters were charged with four counts of attempted second degree murder. One of the suspects, a 17-year-old, was transported to the Richard L. Bean Juvenile Detention Center. The second, Jalisa Andreana Waterson, is being held in the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility on a $400,000 bond.
