19-Year Old Sevier County Man Dead After Drowning In Little Pigeon River

SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Sevier County man died after a drowning in the Little Pigeon River near Red Bank Road on Monday night.

Investigators identified the victim as Dominick Hensley, age 19, of Sevierville.

According to the Sevier County Sheriff's Office, crews were dispatched to a possible drowning just after 3 p.m. Monday when they found the victim already pulled from the water. Authorities said Hensley had been carried to shore by other swimmers.

Emergency personnel initiated CPR on the scene then worked to transport him to UT Medical Center via Lifestar. Hensley passed away early Tuesday morning.

Deputies said Hensley was swimming at the "Shinbone" swimming hole with friends when he went under, but resurfaced down the river later and was unresponsive.

The investigation is continuing by the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division. An autopsy has been ordered on Hensley to determine his exact cause of death.
