Clear Bag Policy To Be Enforced At Knox Area Graduations

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The clear bag policy at Thompson-Boling Arena will be enforced for all Knox County Schools commencement ceremonies.

Students and their families may carry a single clear plastic bag that's 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches, or a small clutch purse or wallet that's no bigger than 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches. Bags for diapers or non-medically necessary items will not be allowed. Anyone with items necessary for medical reasons must enter through gate C or D so the bag can be properly checked.

People are allowed to have cell phones, binoculars, video or picture cameras without cases, strollers and radios with headsets. No items may be left or stored at the gates.

Along with diaper bags, other explicitly prohibited items include backpacks, alcoholic beverages, cans, bottles, coolers, selfie sticks, unmanned aircraft, weapons, pocket knifes, artificial noise makers including air horns, and cigarettes or e-cigarettes.

Anyone with questions about what can and can't be brought into high school graduation ceremonies at the University of Tennessee can call 865-974-0953 or visit knoxschools.org/graduation.
