Former President George H.W. Bush Released From Hospital, "Doing Well"

Former President George H.W. Bush has been released from the hospital and is “doing well,” according to his spokesman.

Jim McGrath, Bush's spokesman, tweeted Friday evening that the president was released from Methodist Hospital in Houston after being treated for an infection.

"His doctors report he is doing well and is happy to return home," McGrath tweeted.

Bush, 93, was checked into Houston Methodist Hospital on April 22, one day after his wife Barbara Bush's funeral, for a urinal tract infection, which turned into septic shock, KTRK reported.

Barbara Bush, 92, died April 17, days after the family announced that she would not “seek additional medical treatment” after recent hospitalizations.

Bush was reportedly in the intensive care unit during his own treatment after his wife’s death.

The former president is still planning to travel to his family’s home Maine this summer, however, McGrath told ABC News.
