TDOT Says Highway 70N In Hancock County Closed For Three Weeks

HANCOCK COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Tennessee Department of Transportation workers will be out in Hancock and Hawkins county for about three weeks starting Monday at 10 p.m.

A section of the highway, from SR 94 and Clinch Valley Road, will be closed for "rockfall mitigation" work. TDOT said that, due to large rocks falling from the hillside, the entire road must be closed to allow them to complete their work.

Motorists can seek an alternate route from SR 70 in Rogersville by taking SR 1 (US 11W) South to SR 31 North in Mooresburg, to SR 33 North to SR 70 North.

From SR 70 in Kyles Ford, they can travel SR South to SR 31 South in Sneedville, to SR 1 (US 11W) in North Mooresburg, to SR 70 North in Rogersville.

TDOT asks travelers to be extremely careful in this area as workers will be present.
