Winners Of Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon Event Announced

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Winners of the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon were announced on March 25.

The race, which spanned two days, had more than 8,300 registrants.

“Congratulations to all the winners and participants in the 14th annual Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon,” Covenant Health President and CEO Jim VanderSteeg said. “Every person who crossed the finish line today should be very proud of the steps they have taken today toward leading a healthy and active lifestyle. That’s what the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon is all about.”

Winner of the women's marathon, for the third year in a row, was Gina Rouse of Knoxville with a time of 2:56:33. She won in 2017 with a time of 2:52:06 and in 2016 with a time of 2:53:16.

Bryan Morseman, of Bath, New York, won the men's marathon with a time of 2:27:11. He won in 2016 with a time of 2:25:01.

2. Missy Showers of Knoxville, Tennessee, at 3:04:55
3. Johanna Butler of Miami, Florida, at 3:05:43

Men’s half marathon:

1. Christian Thompson of Ooltewah, Tennessee, at 1:09:48
2. Jason McLeod of Knoxville, Tennessee, at 1:10:12
3. Benjamin Tuttle of Cookeville, Tennessee, at 1:12:02

Women’s half marathon:

1. Stephanie Cloutier of Elk Mound, Wisconsin, at 1:23:07
2. Andee Swann of Morristown, Tennessee, at 1:28:31
3. Eliza Dickenson of Knoxville, Tennessee, at 1:32:04

Men’s 5K:

1. Travis Wilson of Friendsville, Tennessee, at 17:41
2. Preston Ruth of Knoxville, Tennessee, at 17:55
3. AJ Haynes of Alcoa, Tennessee, at 18:11

Women’s 5K:

1. Whitney Heins of Knoxville, Tennessee, at 19:07
2. Kathy Wolski of Knoxville, Tennessee, at 20:28
3. Katie Smock of Kodak, Tennessee, at 21:57

Several handcyclists and wheelchair competitors were in the race as well. Winners in those categories are:

Men’s handcycle marathon:

1. David Cunningham of Wildwood, Georgia, at 2:26:35
2. Dennis Clark of Oliver Springs, Tennessee, at 3:21:07

Women’s handcycle marathon:

1. Carly Pearson of Knoxville, Tennessee, at 2:25:24

Men’s push rim wheelchair marathon:

1. Matthew Porterfield of Knoxville, Tennessee, at 1:22:56

Women’s handcycle half marathon:

1. Sharon Stolberg of Cleveland, Tennessee, at 1:42:48
