Knoxville Police Investigating Deadly Crash Near Bridgewater Road Sunday
At 8:04 p.m. Sunday, officers were called to reports of a single-vehicle crash on Bridgewater Road near Comstock Road. When authorities arrived on the scene, they found a 2004 Ford Econoline Van upside down and partially submerged in Ten Mile Creek.
According to the preliminary investigation, the van was traveling north on Bridgewater then left the side of the roadway, hit the guardrail and handrail for the bridge over the creek, then rolled over onto its top in the creek.
The driver, Edwardo Camario of Knoxville, was pronounced dead at the scene.
KPD said they believe alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash. Investigators are not certain if the driver was using his seat belt or not.
