Blount County Says 22-Year Old Maryville Man Killed Following Car Accident Sunday

The Blount County Sheriff's Office said a 22-year-old man was killed following a car accident on Sunday morning.

At around 5:30 a.m. this morning, deputies responded to reports of a one vehicle car near the 2900 block of Miser Station Road.

The driver, 22-year-old Michael Clark Jones of Louisville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to BCSO, Jones was traveling southwest on Miser Station Road when he crossed over the center line and veered left. He went off the road and traveled approximately 40 feet before hitting a tree head on. The vehicle's airbags deployed, but BCSO said Jones was not wearing a seat belt.

The Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the accident.
