State of Emergency For Harlan County Kentucky Due To Widespread Flooding

HARLAN COUNTY, KY -  Harlan County Judge-Executive Dan Mosley declared a state of emergency just after 8:30 Saturday night due to widespread flooding.

Mosley said in a Facebook post that creeks and streams started overflowing at around 4:00 p.m.

By 8:30 p.m., rivers throughout Harlan County were starting to overflow their banks as well.

Crews advised residents to seek higher ground immediately if they live in flood-prone area.

The rivers are going to continue to rise through the night.

Anyone who can not get out of their home safely is asked to call 911.
