Human Remains Identified In Speedwell As Missing Knoxville Woman

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Human remains found in a wooded area of Speedwell were identified as a missing Knoxville woman.

On December 2, deputies with the Campbell County Sheriff's Office were called to investigate the discovery of human remains in the Speedwell community. With assistance from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations, the remains were transported to the Knox County Regional Forensic Center for identification.

Investigators were informed by the forensic center on Wednesday that the recovered remains were those of missing Nakisha Scott. At the time, Scott's cause of death is undetermined and pending a ruling by the medical examiner.

Knoxville Police officers launched an investigation into Scott's disappearance on May 30 after she was reported missing by family members. Officers said she was last seen alive walking toward her estranged husband's house down an alley on May 28 between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Anyone with information into the disappearance or death of Scott is urged to call the Knoxville Police Department Crime Hot Line at 865-215-7212. Callers may remain anonymous.
