Nearly 85 Dogs Rescued From Georgia House Fire South Of Atlanta

The number of dogs recovered in a weekend house fire has risen from 50 to 85, according to Channel 2 Action News in Atlanta.

The dogs were discovered Sunday morning as firefighters worked their way inside a home on Lori Lane, which is near Old National Highway in south Fulton County. Officials also found animal feces and urine inside the home.

Fulton County deputy fire Chief Charles Stubbs told Channel 2 the owner was breeding dogs illegally and must surrender them to animal control.

“It’s an ordinance violation in Fulton County because if you have more than four dogs, you’re supposed to have a special permit,” Stubbs said.

The dogs will be taken to a shelter for evaluation.
