Man Wanted For Crime Spree in 22-Kentucky Counties Arrested Near Bourbon

BOURBON CO., Ky. (WKYT) - A man wanted in more than 20 counties for stealing thousands of dollars worth of property is now behind bars.

Police say Dario Mauriz-Cruz is responsible for crimes all the way from Boone County in northern Kentucky to Laurel County in southern Kentucky, and possibly even down into Tennessee.

Mauriz-Cruz was spotted in Lexington with a license plate that didn’t fit the car he was driving.

Police pursued him after he took off, but officers finally stopped him in Bourbon County.

There, police say he was charged with some vehicle offenses and fleeing and evading, but police say he is a suspect in nearly 20 car breaks in Mercer County alone and numerous related crimes all over Kentucky.

Mauriz-Cruz remains in the Bourbon County Jail, but police in Mercer County say they plan to bring him to Harrodsburg to answer charges as well.
