Sevierville Police Department Announces Free Citizens Police Academy This Fall September 14-November 16

The Sevierville Police Department is proud to announce they are offering a Citizens Police Academy this fall. The purpose of the Academy is to provide an opportunity for adult residents to learn about basic police work and to get to know the officers protecting and serving our community.

The Academy will meet 6:00PM-9:00PM on Thursday evenings from September 14 - November 16, 2017. The program is free.

Curriculum for the program will consist of 30 hours of classroom and field instruction. Topics will include: Patrol Methods, Investigations, Vehicle Stops, Defense Techniques, D.U.I. Interdiction, Taser, Community Policing Programs, and Introduction to Police Firearms.

“The Citizens Police Academy is a great opportunity for citizens to interact with police officers, learn what is involved in police work and experience what it is like to be an officer,” said Chief Don Myers.

Applications are available at the Sevierville Police Department, 300 Gary R. Wade Blvd. Sevierville, TN 37862. Applicants must complete all of the Citizen Police Academy registration forms and return them to the Sevierville Police Department by 5PM on Tuesday, September 11, 2017.

Enrollment is limited to the first twenty-five applicants, 18-years of age and older. Confirmation of registration will be made following a thorough background investigation.
