KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Knoxville Police are concerned more victims
may need to come forward after their arrest of a suspect for sexual
exploitation of a teen girl.
The Knoxville Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task
Force followed up a on complaint that a teen in Oklahoma was the victim
of exploitation by a Tennessee man. She was having what appeared to be
an inappropriate online relationship with him. At one point,
investigators said it appeared Greene was planning to meet the
16-year-old girl in Oklahoma during a reported work trip to that state.
When the teen's mother told 22-year-old Shay Christopher Greene to end
contact, investigators said he threatened to hire a motorcycle gang to
shoot her in the head.
The mother contacted police who then began investigating. Members of
KPD's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) said Greene
agreed to meet the teen in Knoxville but was instead met by
investigators in August.
That's when they said they found what appeared to be child pornography
on his mobile phone. About three days later, investigators said Greene
fled Tennessee and ended up in Oklahoma where he was arrested.
Greene is charged with Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, a Class D Felony.
He is waiting to be transferred back to Knox County.
Police said anyone victimized or contacted by Shay Christopher Greene
should reach out to the Knoxville Police Department’s crime information
line at 865-215-7212 or share information through the KPD Facebook page
