An Anderson County man has plead guilty to
second degree murder in a 2017 shooting that left one man dead in a
Wal-Mart parking lot in Clinton.
On April 28, 2017, Robert Myers, 33, was arrested after shooting Marshal
Pinsly over what is alleged to be a child custody dispute. Pinsly was
married at the time to Myers ex-wife, and the two had an ongoing
disagreement that continued when Myers and Pinsly had a chance encounter
near the Wal-Mart in Clinton.
Pinsly followed Myers into the parking lot, got out of his car, and
approached Myers’ driver side door. Myers then shot Pinsly, who later
died of a single gun shot wound.
Myers also pled guilty to attempted second degree murder and kidnapping
of Brandy Moneymaker on February 8, 2017.
According to police reports, Myers assaulted and severely beat
Moneymaker at his home on Airbase Road. He later drove her to a remote
mining area and forced her out of the car, where he then shot at her and
left her to die on the mountainside.
Despite suffering multiple broken bones and a brain injury, Moneymaker
made her way to a nearby residence and called for help.
For his crimes, Myers received 15 and 12 year sentences to run
consecutively without the possibility for parole. |
