Two men were shot in Sevierville Friday
night. One died, another was injured.
The Sevierville Police Department responded the Hampton Inn on Winfield
Dunn Parkway around 11:41 p.m. after receiving a call about a man who
appeared to have a medical problem.
The caller said the man had unsuccessfully attempted to enter their car
at the Hampton Inn parking lot.
The first officer on scene found James Douglas Moyer, 28, of Piedmont,
Alabama, in the parking lot with a gun shot wound to his upper torso.
The officer discovered a second man, Jamie Scott Barron, 27, of Gadsden,
Alabama, in a nearby truck with a gunshot wound to his head.
Barron was pronounced dead at LeConte Medical Center, and Moyer was
transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. His condition
is unknown at this time.
A family member told local news outlets that Jamie and his friend were
visiting Sevierville for a mini vacation. She said he called his
grandmother at 10:20 p.m. and told her they had just finished watching a
show.
Apparently Jamie called to tell his grandmother goodnight and to inform
her that he would return Sunday to take her to church, "Which he does
every Sunday morning. That is the last any of us ever heard from him,"
the relative told Knoxvlle's WVLT news late Saturday.
Police said they do not believe the public is in danger. The
investigation into the incident is ongoing. |
