MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (WVLT) -- A Bell County
woman said she was stopped by two separate people impersonating police
officers within one mile; now Kentucky State Police are warning drivers
about the confusion.
The woman told state police she was driving on U.S. 25E in the
Middlesboro area Sunday, when an unmarked green SUV pulled her over. A
man, not in uniform told her she was speeding, but never asked for any
paper work. He told her to slow down and let her go. The woman described
him wearing a red Carhartt jacket with a badge around his neck.
Within the same mile, she told police she was stopped again. This time
by a man driving a navy blue SUV. He got out of the car and asked for
her license, but she did not see a badge anywhere. The woman claimed the
man started screaming at her and hitting her window. When she said she
would call state police, the man ran back to his car and left.
KSP now has extra patrol in the area and they are asking, if anyone else
has been stopped like this, to give them a call at 606-573-3131. |
