ETSU Head Football Coach Randy Sanders Placed On Administrative Leave
(WJHL) -- East Tennessee State University
has placed head football coach Randy Sanders on administrative leave.
Sanders is on paid administrative leave pending the investigation of
potential violation of university policy, WJHL reports.
Sources close to the situation told the Johnson City Press that the move
came after Sanders allegedly hit a freshman defensive back in the helmet
during Friday's practice when the player did not take a knee during a
drill.
The Morristown native was named the 18th head coach in ETSU football
history in December 2017. Sanders played collegiately for Tennessee from
1984-1988 before starting his coaching career at Tennessee in 1989. In
his nearly 30 years of coaching, he has coached 26 bowl games and his
teams hold a combined record of 258-105-2.
