According to the Ninth Judicial District
Attorney General's office, a traffic stop on Sunday, April 1, yielded
the largest meth seizure in Loudon County history.
According to the DA's office, the Loudon County Sheriff's Office
encountered the vehicle at about 10:20 a.m. Sunday. A drug detection dog
identified drugs in the vehicle, after which officers searched it and
found a bag in the car's trunk that contained several large bundles of
suspected methamphetamine.
Officials said they seized about 30 pounds of meth in the search, which
had a combined street value of well over half a million dollars.
The driver of the vehicle, who was identified as Ariel Vera-Medina from
Camden, New Jersey, was arrested and charged with possession of
methamphetamine for resale, a Class B felony. Vera-Medina was arranged
in Loudon County Court on April 2, and his bond was set at $500,000.
Vera-Medina's next court date was set for April 11 in Loudon County. |
