Three women who were Certified Nursing
Assistants at the Prairie View Residential Care in Fayette, Iowa are
accused of having sex with patients.
An investigation found the three were discharged from the center for
unhealthy relationships with patients. They were arrested on March 23.
The arrests came after an investigation following two Certified Nursing
Assistants arrested on March 5 for sexual exploitation while being
employed at Prairie View Residential Care facility.
"These CNAs have violated the trust of not only their employers but also
the families of these patients who put their trust in these individuals
to care for their family members," Sheriff Marty Fisher said.
Carlyn Wiedrich, 44, of Sumner, Iowa, was found to have sexual relations
with a patient when employed by Prairie View Residential Care in 2015.
An investigation found in 2016 Shelby Sebring, 24, of Hawkeye, Iowa, and
Jamie Pagel, 32, also of Sumner, allegedly had sexual relationships with
patients while working at the Prairie View Residential Care facility.
During the time of the crimes, all patients were court ordered to the
Prairie View Residential Care facility for treatment.
The three women later bonded out of the Fayette County Jail on a $10,000
bond. If convicted, they each could face five years in prison and be
required to register on the sex offender registry.
The investigation is ongoing and authorities are looking into other
incidents where charges could be filed. |
