The Knox County Sheriff's Office arrested
an East Knox County man and charged him with rape and aggravated
kidnapping among other charges.
The sheriff's office investigated and charged Jason Copley, 40, with
rape, aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping and two counts of felony
possession of a firearm.
Law enforcement said Copley picked up a woman he had been dating for a

authorities he drove her to his home on Old Rutledge Pike Saturday
afternoon. When there, he took her cellphone and would not let her
leave.
According to the woman, Copley brought out a gun, hit her multiple
times, threw her on the floor, choked her until she stopped breathing
and raped her.
The sheriff's office said that Copley has an extensive criminal history
in Knox County, Anderson County and Detroit, Michigan that involves
aggravated assault, kidnapping, DUI, arson and other charges.
He is currently being held at the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility on
a $250,000 bond. |
