A 27-year-old Kodak man was arrested and
charged with reckless endangerment with a firearm after Sevierville
police said he admitted to firing a 9 mm pistol into the air through the
sunroof in his vehicle.
On the evening of Monday, March 19, officers with the Sevierville Police
Department responded to several calls in the area of Turtle Dove Trail
in the Mountain Meadows subdivision. According to police, the calls
reported what sounded like multiple gunshots coming from a red vehicle,
which was described by one witness as a red Pontiac Vibe.
Officers responded Monday but were unable to locate the vehicle, they
said Thursday.
On Tuesday, March 20, an officer saw a red Pontiac Vibe driving east on
Boyds Creek Highway. Officers made contact with the driver, identified
as 27-year-old Scott Ryan Rodriguez of Kodak. Officers learned Rodriguez
had marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his possession, and they
searched his vehicle. In their search, they found seventeen 9 mm shell
casings.
Police said Rodriguez told them that he had fired a 9 mm pistol into the
air through his vehicle's sunroof.
Officers then used a search warrant on Rodriguez's residence, where they
found a 9 mm Beretta pistol and several rounds of ammunition. They also
found approximately 171 grams of a crystal substance that tested
positive for methamphetamine in a field test. That substance was
delivered to TBI for analysis.
Police said Rodriguez was charged with reckless endangerment with a
firearm, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Additional charges were pending as of Thursday. |
