Big Ears Music Festival Runs Through March 25 In Knoxville

The Big Ears Music Festival was scheduled to take place March 22 through 25 in Knoxville.

The festival is one of the most unique in the world, drawing international audiences to experience music, art and poetry -- all right in Downtown Knoxville.

"Probably just the amount of talent the festival has, three or four days of people you couldn't see for an entire year together, just seeing it all together in one spot is worth the drive," concertgoer Scott Ellingburg from Charleston, South Carolina, said to local news.

The festival announced some schedule changes and act cancellations Wednesday due to weather.

According to the Big Ears Facebook page, Thursday's Nels Cline's Lovers with the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra show at the Tennessee Theatre was cancelled because key players could not get in town in time for rehearsals. However, Nels Cline, Yuka C. Honda and Jenny Scheinman were still scheduled to perform at other shows at the festival.

Kid Koala was also delayed, and the Thursday night performance of Kid Koala's Satellite Turntable Orchestra performance was cancelled. However, Kid Koala was still scheduled to perform a DJ set late Thursday evening.

As a result of the changes, the festival announced the Meshell Ndegeocello performance would be moved to 7:30 p.m. at the Tennessee Theatre, followed by Marc Ribot and David Hidalgo, whose performance was moved up to 9 p.m.

However, the festival's organizers told Local 8 News no additional delays or cancellations were expected as of Thursday afternoon.
