First Ever Dragon Lights Festival Coming To Knoxville Now Through April 22

The first-ever Dragon Lights Festival was planned to start on Friday, March 16, in Knoxville. Tickets are on sale to attend Chilhowee Park & Exposition Center to see the large lanterns.

The festival will run from March 16 through April 22, from 5:30 until 10 p.m. each night. Tickets were priced from $10.50 to $16.50. Event parking is free. A box office at the event entrance was set to open at 4 p.m. on each day of the event.

Tickets can be purchased in person at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum Box Office from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily, or by phone at 800-745-3000. Tickets are also on sale online at ticketmaster.com. Military members, seniors, students or groups can purchase tickets at discounted prices.

The Dragon Lights Festival was established as the largest of its kind in the Eastern US. The five-week event includes nightly performances and 42 oversized lanterns that show off mythical creatures, animals and designs that have been inspired by Knoxville landmarks. The lanterns were planned to be assembled on-site by Chinese artisans.

Visitors to the event will also enjoy nightly stage performances that include acrobatics and traditional Chinese folk art demonstrations. Ticketholders can purchase food and drinks, as well as alcoholic beverages, and can participate in hands-on activities at the event.
