Georgia Woman Who Is Terminally Ill Denied Marriage License Near Atlanta
A groom is having a hard way to go while
trying to fulfill the dying wish of his bedridden fiancee.
Aubri Gillilan's last wish is to marry the father of her four children,
Andrew Hendrickson. But, WSB reports that officials won't give the
couple a marriage license unless Gillilan appears in person.
Gillilan has a rare form of malignant melanoma that keeps her bedridden.
Hendrickson said he told officials that his bride-to-be was under
hospice care and not able to come to the court house to get a marriage
license. That's when Hendrickson claims they refused to give him a
license.
Fulton County Probate Judge Pinkie Toomer told WSB in a phone interview
that it's difficult to send a worker to someone's home due to security
issues, but that they are looking into what can be done.
Gillilan told media outlets that the marriage license would mean the
world to her since there's no way for her to walk down the aisle.
Hendrickson said he's asked neighboring counties with no luck. He said
he even offered to show Gillilan via Skype, but his request was
declined.
