Knox Sheriff's Office Say Charges Pending In Fatal Dirt Bike Wreck That Kills Three-Year Old Son

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.(WVLT)-- Knox County deputies said a mom survived a dirt bike wreck with her three-year-old son on board, but he died at the hospital Sunday.

Investigators said the mom, 23-year-old Megan Brown, ran a stop at the intersection of Thebes Lane and crashed into a Honda Accord driven by 27-year-old Jacob Hunter that was turning left onto Bowsong Lane just before 7 p.m. in North Knox County. The Knox County Sheriff's Office said Hunter was driving on the wrong side of he road when he tried to turn left onto Bowsong Lane.

Deputies said the three-year-old boy was wearing a helmet but his mother was not at the time of the crash.

Both were taken to UT Medical Center for treatment, where the three-year-old died. Brown is being treated for not life threatening injuries, and Hunter was not injured.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office is investigating the situation and said charges are pending against both drivers.
