One Dead In Head On Collision On Martin Mill Pike Friday Night
Officials with the Knoxville Police Department and Knoxville Fire Department responded to reports of a collision on the 4900 block of W. Martin Mill Pike at about 8 p.m. on Friday night.

First responders discovered one person dead at the scene of the collision and two others were taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

According to officials, information from the investigation of the scene revealed that one vehicle was traveling south on Martin Mill Pike at a high rate of speed. At some point, the vehicle lost control while trying to "negotiate" a curve.

That vehicle then struck an oncoming vehicle traveling northbound on Martin Mill Pike and collided with a tree. As of late Friday night, police reported that the investigation is continuing.
