On Monday, law enforcement agencies
responded to a bank robbery at the SunTrust Bank located on Andrew
Johnson Highway in Knoxville.
Dispatch told Local 8 News Monday afternoon that investigators were sent
to the scene at 12:26 p.m.
According to the FBI Knoxville division, reports indicated that a lone
white male entered the bank at approximately 12:20 p.m. and demanded
money via a note. After he obtained an undisclosed amount of money from
the bank, the robber left the scene.
The suspect was described as a white male, standing approximately 5'6",
with a small build. The suspect was wearing sunglasses, a hoodie and a
fake beard.
The incident is being investigated by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force,
which is made up of the FBI, the Knoxville Police Department and the
Knox County Sheriff's Office.
