Work Crews Remove Crane That Falls On Two Homes In Chattanooga
Work crews spent Friday afternoon removing
a crane after it fell on top of two homes in Chattanooga.
Officials said a tree trimming company was cutting up a big tree on a
homeowner's yard on Barton Avenue at around 1:30 p.m. While using a
crane to remove a log, the crane toppled over and damaged two houses.
Officials reported that no one was injured.
Chattanooga police and fire responded to the scene, and the decision was
made to close down the avenue so two other cranes could remove the
first.. EPB of Chattanooga shut down the damaged homes' power. The
avenue reopened at about 7:30 p.m. Friday night.
Neighbors at the scene said they were shocked by what occurred.
“I left my house at like 12:30 pm and I was back half an hour later. I
just saw wheels up where there shouldn’t be wheels. So I parked my car
and I came up here and that was when the first cop car was getting
here,” Alexandra Durham said.
The homeowners are not allowed to return home until their residences are
deemed structurally safe.
