President Trump Says Rep. Adam Schiff A "Bad Guy" Who Probably Released
"Illegal" Information In Memo
President Trump offered his first
televised reaction to the release of the Democrat rebuttal to the
so-called Nunes FISA memo, criticizing intelligence committee member
Rep. Adam Schiff.
Trump called Schiff (D-Calif.) a "bad guy," and called his caucus' memo
"a nothing."
"That was confirmation, if you call it the Republican memo or Nunes
memo, was nothing but a confirmation," Trump said. "A lot of bad things
happened on the [Democratic] side... Somebody should look into it."Trump
appeared to call the actions detailed in the memoranda -- regarding the
obtaining of a surveillance warrant on a former campaign adviser --
"fraudulent."
The president maintained that neither he nor his team colluded with any
Russians, saying that he was simply a "far better candidate" than former
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
"Obama was the president during all of this meddling," he said. "He's
the one that was supposed to take care of this and he didn't. Nobody
brings that up."
Regarding Schiff, Trump added that the Burbank Democrat allegedly leaked
information from some of his sensitive meetings and hearings.
"You... see Adam Schiff. He has a meeting. He leaves the meeting [and]
calls up reporters and all of a sudden they have news. You're not
supposed to do that," he said.
Trump said that Schiff's actions were "probably illegal."
He also called on Congress to pass stiffer
background check legislation and praised National Rifle Association
Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre and NRA Institute for
Legislative Action chief Chris Cox.
