Knox County Kentucky Police Arrest Three Teenage Girls For Social Media Posts Threatening Schools

Kentucky State Police arrested three teenage girls they said came up with the idea to send out a social media threat in hopes of canceling school.

Investigators said the girls are a part of the Knox County Public School System.

The 13 year old attends Knox County Middle School, the 16 year old attends Knox County Learning Academy and the 19 year old, Megan Scott, attends Knox Central High School.

The two juveniles were charged with second degree terroristic threatening and taken to the Breathitt County Juvenile Detention Center.

Scott was charged with complicity to terroristic threatening because police said she was aware of the threats and failed to notify authorities. She was taken to the Knox County Detention Center.

The girls' arrest comes hours after Kentucky State Police and Barbourville Police Department began receiving calls about a social media post threatening Knox County schools.

After further investigation, authorities said they were able to track down an address and connect it to the place where the threat was made.

Police said they are taking any and all threats made toward the school seriously.
