Flu season is far from over and the nasty
bug has been widespread across Tennessee this year.
If you have not yet received a flu shot this season, you still have a
chance and it could make a big difference in keeping the flu far away.
The Tennessee Department of Health is urging people in Tennessee to
still get their flu shot as soon as possible and the department wants to
make it easy on you.
Health departments from each county in Tennessee are hosting a special
"Flu Shot Friday", which will provide the flu vaccine for free to
patients while supplies last.
The clinic goes from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. local time on Fri., Feb 16 in
all locations. The department wants to be sure as many people as
possible are vaccinated across Tennessee.
"We are having these clinics to emphasize it’s not too late to get
vaccinated because we expect a lot more weeks of seasonal flu that we
all know has already been intense. Vaccination is still the best
protection we have against this serious and deadly illness,” said TDH
Commissioner John Dreyzehner, MD, MPH. “Yes, wash your hands, avoid
touching your face, stay home if you are sick but above all get
vaccinated. It can help you and those around you stay healthy and if you
do get sick, it just might save your life.”
No appointments are needed to receive a flu shot at the event. You can
just show up. They will only give the vaccine while supplies last.
If you would like to attend "Flu Shot Friday", you can find a map of
local health department locations and contact information online. |
