The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency
reported that a White County man was cited for over the limit fishing
and for illegal limit length.
On January 31, a DeKalb County officer responded to a call on Caney Fork
River. There, the officer observed an angler and a woman for more than
an hour and a half. During that time, the officer saw the man catch
several trout and place them in a bucket which the woman occasionally
took to a nearby car.
The officer confronted the man and woman when they packed up and
returned to their car, where he performed a search of their catch.
After the search, the White County man was found to be in possession of
16 total trout, including five brown trout, eight brook trout and three
rainbow trout.
The angler was cited with three counts of over the limit and cited for
two counts for illegal length limit, while the woman was given a written
warning for aiding and abetting.
The officer with DeKalb County said, "TWRA fisheries crews work hard to
maintain great angling opportunities in this area. Slot limits on fish
are put in place to ensure quality fishing continues."
