Man Leads State Troopers On High Speed Chase Through Knoxville
David Johnny Haynes Jr. was arrested
Monday after leading police on a chase through Knoxville, according to a
warrant.
The warrant states a trooper attempted to pull Haynes over on I-40 for
not wearing his seat belt. Troopers said Haynes sped away and exited at
the Cedar Bluff exit. He then led troopers for 20 minutes through
Middlebrook Pike swerving in and out of traffic. That's when officers
stopped the chase because of safety concerns to the public.
Troopers later spotted the Honda Civic Haynes was driving and found him
at an apartment on Locust Street.
Haynes has warrants in Knox and Union Counties as well as Virginia.
He's facing several charges including evading arrest, reckless driving,
speeding and a long list of traffic violations
