KNOXVILLE (WATE)
- A suspect is on the run after two people were stabbed in Knoxville.
The Knox County Sheriff's Office says a man stabbed two people at a
Weigel's on East Emory Road.
The victims were transported to the University of Tennessee Medical
Center.
Jennifer Westberry, a family friend of the victims, told local news
agencies that one of the injured was Mike McCarrell.
"He's always there when anybody needs him. You needed help, he was right
there," said Westberry. "He's a very caring person. They have him on
life support. He's trying to move. He's in agonziing pain. He tries to
keep reaching up to his chest trying to feel it, trying to talk. He's
not good at all."
Westberry hopes a witness will come forward.
"Just to think he's a human being and he didn't deserve it. If anybody
knows anything, they need to come forward. Tell the police so these
people are taken off the road, these people are anybody's family, it
could've been mine...could've been anybody's," said Westberry.
Investigators say the suspect is a white male in his 40s. Anyone with
information, should contact the Knox County Sheriff's Office at
865-215-2243.
