An Ohio man who told authorities his wife's body disappeared after she
died in the Graceland parking lot has now said he dumped her body in the
Tennessee River, CBS affiliate WREG reports.
According to WREG sources, Phillip Snider's wife Roberta, age 70, was in
poor health, and their trip to Graceland was to be their last trip.
WREG reports Phillip told family members he wanted to take his wife to
Graceland "one last time before she died."
Snider told authorities he had flagged down an ambulance after she died
in the parking lot, and she was taken away by rescue workers. He said he
returned to their home in Hartville, Ohio, without knowing where her
body had been taken.
Local police later reported they did not have any records of the woman's
body.
Hartville police confirmed that Phillip Snider had checked into a Days
Inn near Graceland on January 5.
On Friday, WREG reports Snider's story had changed, and he said his wife
actually passed away from cancer somewhere in Kentucky. Instead of
stopping, reports said he continued his journey to Memphis.
On his way home, authorities said Snider wrapped his wife's body in
plastic and dumped the body in the Tennessee River along I-40. WREG
reports Snider told police his wife died of natural causes, and he had
"put her with nature."
A recovery team searched the area, but as of Monday, the woman's body
had not been recovered. Authorities said Snider could face charges if
his wife's body is found. |
