KNOXVILLE - A masked suspect was caught
inside a Boost Mobile store in Knoxville.
The Knoxville Police Department posted pictures of the crook on social
media. It's garnered a lot of attention seeing as the sneaky burglar was
a raccoon.
According to the call, four officers were parked outside the Boost
Mobile store on Magnolia Avenue and saw the raccoon "tearing up the
store."
Store owner Jake Nam,says his alarm system called him when the break in
happened and he was able to watch security video on his phone.
"When I found him, he was bigger than I expected," he said.
Nam showed us the security footage of the raccoon breaking in, rather
falling in, through the ceiling. The animal landed on the kiosk in front
and created a big mess.
For some time the critter roamed around the store, eventually hiding out
at the top of the front window. Nam says he tried everything, even food,
to coax the raccoon outside, "But he's not interested. I feel he was so
scared."It took about three
hours to finally get the raccoon out the front door to police.
"Nobody's injured, nothing was lost, that makes me so happy with our
community here," added Nam.
While everything's back to business, Nam is checking inventory.
"If he wants any kind of phone, Android, iPhone from us, definitely
think we'll sell the phone to the raccoon. But, I'm not sure who's going
to be paying."
Nam says he's not really taking any precautions but thinks a raccoon may
break in again. He says that he hopes that time the raccoon uses a more
courteous way to break in without creating a big mess.
Many people are wondering what happened to the raccoon. Nam says he
believes the animal is somewhere hiding in their East Knoxville
neighborhood. |
