Two hikers were
found after they were reported missing over the weekend.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a husband and wife along with their
dog became missing after hiking in the Big South Fork National River and
Recreation Area in Scott County.
The couple called their daughter and told her they were lost. The next
morning, they called their daughter and said they spent the night in the
woods and were going to find their way out.
A search started when the couple did not come back to their vehicle. Air
support was used to help with the search.
The woman and the dog were found after an hour. The woman appeared
disoriented and had trouble moving, according to the report.
She told searchers that she was separated from her husband and he was
not doing well.
The man was found lying down and had trouble moving, according to the
report.
The wife was transported to an area hospital for non-life threatening,
cold weather injuries. The husband was transported to The University of
Tennessee Medical Center and was in serious condition. |
