A man on
the run for raping and kidnapping another married man was arrested after
leading Chattanooga police on a car chase during a traffic stop 2:00
Sunday morning, according to WDEF, Local 8 News' CBS affiliate.
Police said Demetrius Bailey was wanted for aggravated rape, aggravated
kidnapping and aggravated assault in connection to a sexual assault
reported to them just after 9:00 Friday morning January 12.
Court documented showed Bailey pressed a gun up against the victim's
side at a gas station then ordered him to "stay calm and do what he was
told to do."
The victim was giving Bailey and a few others a ride but stopped to get
gas before reaching their final destination.
The victim, according to court documents, tried to alert another
passenger in the car about the altercation but alleged she did not pick
up on his fears.
After leaving the gas station, WDEF reported the victim, Bailey and the
other passengers drove to a home on the corner of 12th Avenue and E.
21st. Once inside, the victim reported he was forced to go to the
basement.
The victim said Bailey forcibly raped him twice from Tuesday evening to
Friday morning, according to WDEF.
The victim said he did exactly what the suspect ordered him to do
because “he felt his life was in danger after multiple threats [were]
made by the suspect, stating to do what he is told and everything would
be okay," according to court documents.
Friday morning, the victim was able to escape when someone inside the
home captured Bailey's attention.
The victim helped police put Bailey behind bars after identifying him in
a photo line-up and identifying him by "Meechie," a street name the
victim said Bailey responds to.
