Former U.S. ambassador John Bolton
endorsed U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn's bid for the U.S. Senate on
Tuesday.
In addition to the endorsement, Bolton — who served as U.S. ambassador
to the United Nations under President George W. Bush — said his
political action committee will contribute $10,000 to Blackburn's
campaign.
“Representative Blackburn understands that we live in a volatile world,
and as a member of Congress she has proven herself to be a responsible
steward of our national security,” Bolton said in a statement.
Bolton said Blackburn understands the
importance of strengthening the country's security, while also
supporting the nation's intelligence community and armed forces.
"She has been an asset in the House and I believe her dedication to
protecting our homeland will continue while serving in the Senate, which
is why I fully endorse her candidacy.”
Blackburn thanked Bolton for his endorsement, saying she is running for
the U.S. Senate to keep the country safe.
"We must be responsible stewards of our national security and the men
and women who defend it," she said in a statement.
"I am proud that we finally have a president who understands we must
focus on defeating radical Islamic terrorism at home and abroad,"
Blackburn said, referring to President Donald Trump.
Bolton's endorsement of Blackburn is part of a larger effort to back
other federal candidates. Overall, the former ambassador has given
$225,000 in contributions during the current election cycle.

election cycle.
His PAC has indicated it wants to have more endorsements and donations
during the current election cycle.
Also seeking the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate seat this
year are former U.S. Rep. Stephen Fincher, Dr. Rolando Toyos and
