KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Human
remains found in a wooded area of Speedwell were identified as a missing
Knoxville woman.
On December 2, deputies with the Campbell County Sheriff's Office were
called to investigate the discovery of human remains in the Speedwell
community. With assistance from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations,
the remains were transported to the Knox County Regional Forensic Center
for identification.
Investigators were informed by the forensic center on Wednesday that the
recovered remains were those of missing Nakisha Scott. At the time,
Scott's cause of death is undetermined and pending a ruling by the
medical examiner.
Knoxville Police officers launched an investigation into Scott's
disappearance on May 30 after she was reported missing by family
members. Officers said she was last seen alive walking toward her
estranged husband's house down an alley on May 28 between 7 p.m. and 8
p.m.
