CHATTANOOGA, TN -- A local Knoxville
attorney says she was robbed in broad daylight in Chattanooga.
Summer McMillan works in Knoxville as a malpractice attorney, but was
recently in Chattanooga for depositions when the incident happened.
"He had his window down and bandana over his face and was already
pointing a gun and yelled at me and said put the purse in the car and
walk away," Summer recalled.
Summer said she dropped her purse on the ground and walked away. But,
what happened next really scared her.
"I turned around to the get license plate number. Bad idea. He went by
the exit and circled around and I thought he was coming back for me.
That was scary," Summer mentioned.
She ran as fast as she could to get to safety inside a bank. Summer left
her briefcase on the sidewalk, but was able to recover it. Her purse was
gone, and the man ditched her cell phone on the highway entrance ramp.
She ended up retrieving her phone, but it has a few scratches on it from
the impact.
Thankfully she is okay, but Summer said she wanted to share her story so
others know what to do in the same situation.
Police say Summer did exactly what you're suppose to do in that
situation. Give them what they want, walk away and call 9-1-1. |
