SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (SOURCE:
WVLT) -- A lot of work goes into making sure Thanksgiving meals get on
the table each year, especially at the Sevier County Food Ministry.
From the warehouse to distribution, volunteers have worked to make sure
thousands will have a proper Thanksgiving meal. Director Jim Davis said,
pulling in all of their resources has helped the nearly double amount of
people they help on a weekly basis.
"It takes everything we get to add up to a lot, and we really appreciate
that for our community supporting us," said Davis.
Tiffany McCulley depends on the ministry for more than food.
"They're getting some clothes for my daughter because she only has two
outfits. She's outgrown everything and I've been having to put my son's
clothes on her," she giggled.
McCulley's family is just an example of the several people who have
reaped the benefits of Thanksgiving Distribution Week at Sevier County
Food Ministries.
"Well it's my first time cooking Thanksgiving dinner, so it means a
lot," said McCulley.
Along with a six-pound bag of food, volunteers handed out meat vouchers
for a turkey.
"There's a lot of need out there we're just blessed to be able to our
little corner of the world," said Davis.
The ministry has also been planning a distribution week for
Christmastime. |
