There's on old saying that
goes "birds of a feather flock together." Well, in Washington D.C. this
week you can change that two birds of feather "Flake" together as two
U.S. Senators, Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee, and Sen. Jeff Flake of
Arizona announced they were "retiring" after seeing the handwriting on
the wall of their demise. Instead of showing class for their respective
offices, both men embarrassed themselves, the states they represent, and
the nation! I live
in Tennessee and am especially disappointed with Sen. Corker even though
I'm not surprised. He and President Trump's relationship has sourced
quickly and badly over he past few months after a Twitter war following
Corker's insane decision to go on liberal news shows in September after
he announced he was not seeking re-election to question the President's
competency and leadership.
When Trump fired back questioning whether
Corker had the guts to run for re-election after the President refused
to endorse him, Corker declared the White House was more like an adult
day care center.
President Trump's tweet about Corker on Oct. 8 read, "...Hence, I would fully
expect Corker to be a negative voice and stand in the way of our great
agenda. Didn't have the guts to run!"
The president continued, "..my endorsement). He also wanted to be
Secretary of State, I said 'NO THANKS.' He is also largely responsible
for the horrendous Iran Deal!"
Things had cooled down
for a little bit until this week between Trump and Corker until the
Tennessee Senator's insane decision
to go after the President again personally
and without reservation on CBS This Morning while discussing the attack
in Niger and tax reform.
Corker especially went low when he blamed Trump
for North Korea's actions linking the rogue regime's missile tests to
yes wait for it, Donald Trump's tweeting. Bob, are you really seriously
wanting us to believe that if Donald Trump didn't tweet then North Korea
would stop testing their missiles? Yes, I'm shaking my head.
Again President Trump
didn't take it without responding saying:
"Bob Corker, who helped President O give us the bad Iran Deal & couldn't
get elected dog catcher in Tennessee, is now fighting Tax Cuts...."
"...Corker dropped out of the race in Tennessee when I refused to endorse
him, and now is only negative on anything Trump. Look at his record!"
"Isn't it sad that lightweight Senator Bob Corker, who couldn't get
re-elected in the Great State of Tennessee, will now fight Tax Cuts
plus!"
"Sen. Corker is the incompetent head of the Foreign Relations Committee,
& look how poorly the U.S. has done. He doesn't have a clue as....."
The President continued:
"...the entire World WAS laughing and taking advantage of us. People
like liddle' Bob Corker have set the U.S. way back. Now we move
forward!"
Senator Corker then fired back with a tweet saying,
"Same untruths from an utterly untruthful president. #AlertTheDaycareStaff"
And then you have
the illustrious Arizona Senator Jeff Flake who Tuesday announced he too
was not seeking re-election then deciding to go to the Senate floor to
warn the world it seemed of impending doom now that President Trump was
in office. In Flake's mind, "our
kids are going to ask what
we did to stop what is happening." And what might that be Jeff? Record
growth in the stock market, significant GDP growth in the first two
quarters of 2017, unemployment rates falling, North Korea scared to
death of the man in the Oval Office, illegal immigration at an all time
low, the biggest tax cuts in American history on the table and a sense
in the nation we have a man who actually loves the nation he's leading?
Oh, while I'm at it,
maybe you're talking about the fact that the establishment class in D.C.
is getting its ass handed to it by a political outsider and people like
you, your fellow jackass Senator John McCain, and others are just mad as
hell about that and can't take it.
While Flake has
tried to make himself a "martyr" in this, let's be clear. Neither him or
Corker are martyrs!
Both men decided to quit
because they knew they were going down in flames come November 2018. But
the media narrative in both cases is these two "warriors" are wonderful
examples of courage because they "stuck" it to the President in their
going-out speeches.
Jeff Flake and Bob
Corker both met defeat because they both failed to recognize one simple
thing. The American people are STILL very angry and tired of the
Washington Elites who have destroyed this nation for decades and are
actually happy someone is in the White House who is putting the nation
FIRST again!
Neither he nor Corker
did in their actions or comments.
In researching this
editorial, I found out that Jeff Flake actually had a 100 percent
lifetime Club for Growth record in the United States House of
Representatives. He was a conservative’s conservative and stood up to
the House GOP leadership. He used that reputation to catapult himself
into the Senate with the backing of most every major conservative group.
He towed a tough line on the budget, Obama Care, immigration, etc.
Then he got to the Senate and promptly caved on it all.
Jeff Flake defeated himself with a series of poor decisions over six
years that alienated him from his base, alienated Republican donors who
he heavily pursued in 2012, and then alienated Trump fans.
According to most
sources, voters in Arizona felt betrayed.
Democrats had no use for Flake because he spent years campaigning as a
hard core conservative. Republicans had no use for him because he lied
his way into the Senate, promptly doing the opposite of many of his core
campaign promises.
The fact is that both
Flake and Corker were in jeopardy of losing their seats before they went
to war with President Trump.
So when Flake and Corker
gave their fancy speeches and interviews laced with Anti-Trump poison,
both gave the anti-Trump media and all other forces their "rhetorical
viagra." The media fell over both men's actions and words with rapturous
applause. Well, when the media applauds you these days it's not a good
sign you are on the right side of anything - especially politics.
Here's my suggestion to
both Corker and Flake. Resign now. If all you're going to until next
year is moan and belly ache about the President - go home. You both have
had your two minutes of fame and it's over now.
What Trump said is true.
Corker couldn't get elected to dog catcher in Tennessee. He may get a
thought for what is rumored to be a vacant head coaching job at the
University of Tennessee. The thing is Corker would be as good at that as
he has been a Senator for our state. Corker is from the East Tennessee
area of Chattanooga and should realize we here in the hills are not
happy with his display of stupidity.
A Fox and Friends
interview with local Knoxville cafe patrons this morning showed that 99%
the host talked to were upset that Corker has taken his bitterness out
on the President. It's amazing neither he or Flake rarely said a thing
about the last eight years under Obama.
I tweeted this out
yesterday and will share it in closing.
"Sen. Corker, you're a
disgrace to the state of Tennessee pathetically trashing the President
to the liberal media. They will turn on you too when you stop giving
them sound bites to trash the President. He's wanting to give millions
of middle class Americans tax relief. What do YOU want to do? You want
to run your mouth which is all you've been good at while Senator. Good
riddance and not a day too soon."
You can add Flake's name
in this too. Both men disgraced themselves this week and honestly it's
just another reminder of why we elected President Trump. The swamp is
angry and bitter and we're glad for it.
Let's hope Flake and
Corker aren't the last ones to retire and leave. Sen. John McCain are
you listening? Mitch, how about you?
