At 8:43 a.m. on Saturday,
Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a traffic crash on
Magnolia Avenue near Castle Street.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found that a Ford F-150 ran off
the roadway and struck two 10-year-old children. The driver, 64-year-old
Edward Perry James, told officers he was not sure how the accident
happened.
Both children were transported to the University of Tennessee Medical
Center. KPD reported the children were in stable condition.
The driver was arrested for suspicion of DUI.
According to the arrest report, officer investigation found that the two
children were standing on the shoulder of the road when James drove off
the road, onto the sidewalk and struck the two children.
James reportedly told officers he had not been drinking, but that he was
on seizure medication. PREVIOUS: One man was arrested for

Upon arrival officers found that a Ford F-150 had ran off the roadway
and struck the two children.
The driver told officers he wasn’t sure how the incident happened. Both
children were transported to UT hospital for treatment. They are
