In what we can only hope is
the final chapter in the saga of an American gutless traitor and coward,
Bo Bergdahl pled guilty today to charges he left his post, and in
essence deserted his fellow soldiers, in 2009.
Sadly, instead of
respecting the nation he once served and showing remorse at the cost of
the six U.S. soldiers who were killed searching for him, as well as the
many others who were wounded, Bergdahl confirmed the thought, "once a
gutless coward, always a gutless coward. "
In addition to the loss
of six U.S. servicemen, five terrorists were released to the Taliban in
exchange for Bergdahl by former President Obama, something most military
people have said, further endangered U.S. soldiers by setting a
dangerous precedent in exchanging hostages.
The "misbehavior before
the enemy: charge carries a maximum penalty of life in prison, while the
desertion charge is punishable by up to five years.
"You don't want a Bowe Bergdahl ever walking free in light of what he's
done," said former U.S. Army Sergeant Pete Hegsdeth on Fox and Friends
this morning. "It is a price that Bowe Bergdahl charged our entire
country. The least he can do is serve behind bars for the rest of his
life." "This is a treasonous act," Hegseth added.
Hegseth made it clear
that some in the military actually believe that Bergdahl should face the
death penalty. I tend to agree with that. This man's treason cost the
lives of six of his fellow soldiers whose sacrifice was never mentioned
by President Obama in 2014 when he held a gala event at the White House
welcoming this traitor home.
What made my blood boil even more today were the remarks made by
Bergdahl to ABC when he stated the reason he was pleading guilty in the
case was his claim he couldn't find fairness in the U.S. Justice system
because of, you guessed it, President Trump, conservative media and Fox
News.
“We may as well go back
to kangaroo courts and lynch mobs that got what they wanted,” Bergdahl
said to a British filmmaker in 2016 when asked about trials, according
to an interview obtained by ABC News. “The people who want to hang me,
you’re never going to convince those people.”
Fox News has reported
throughout this travesty that Bergdahl attempted to help the Taliban,
rumors that military officials have denied.
And Evan Buetow was
suspicious of the Taliban’s improved IED aim after Bergdahl walked off
the post:
“The fact of the matter
is, when those soldiers were killed, they would not have been where they
were at if Bergdahl hadn’t left,” says Buetow. “Bergdahl leaving changed
the mission.”
“Following his disappearance, IEDs started going off directly under the
trucks. They were getting perfect hits every time. Their ambushes were
very calculated, very methodical,” said Buetow.
It was “very suspicious,” says Buetow, noting that Bergdahl knew
sensitive information about the movement of U.S. trucks, the weaponry on
those trucks, and how soldiers would react to attacks.
“We were incredibly worried” that Bergdahl was giving up information,
either under torture, or otherwise, says Buetow.
Buetow further told
CNN’s Jake Tapper that intercepted Taliban communications alerted them
to Bergdahl’s attempts to contact the Taliban after his desertion.
According to Buetow,
within days of his disappearance, according to reports, teams monitoring
radio chatter and cell phone communications intercepted an alarming
message: "The American is in Yahya Khel (a village two miles away). He’s
looking for someone who speaks English so he can talk to the Taliban."
“I heard it straight from the interpreter’s lips as he heard it over the
radio,” said Buetow. “There’s a lot more to this story than a soldier
walking away.”…
Yet in the face of this
mountain of evidence from those directly involved in this fiasco,
Bergdahl complained over the weekend that President Trump’s campaign
attacks poisoned the court-martial process and left him little hope for
justice.
Let's be blatantly
clear. Donald Trump did not make it impossible for Bo Bergdahl to defend
himself against charges of desertion and misbehavior before the enemy.
Bergdahl himself make it impossible by deserting and misbehaving before
the enemy!
Bergdahl waived his
right to a jury trial in August, which would have acted to protect him
from a court that lacks independence from the commander in chief. On top
of that, Bergdahl chose to plead guilty rather than offer a defense
against either charge. If this is a “kangaroo court,” why cooperate with
it — especially with the potential of using it as a platform to attack a
supposedly biased and corrupt system?
He sought to manipulate
the media and press when he deserted and he's trying to do the same as
he now finds it necessary to admit to it.
We have nothing but
disdain and disgust for this treasonous traitor. We have nothing but the
greatest respect for those who did their duty to find their fellow
soldier, when in fact, he may have been coordinating with the very enemy
they were fighting. Then instead of admitting he was wrong, he
chooses to blame the President for the crazy idea he can't find justice
in America.
Bo, you better be lucky
we don't live in a kangaroo society. You'd be facing the electric chair
or firing squad for your treason.
Once a cowardly traitor,
always a cowardly traitor.
I hope Bo Bergdahl has a
long long long time to etch those statements on his jail cell where I
hope from where he never emerges or ever again sees the light of day.
This entire ordeal began
as a sick travesty. It ended the same way. I hope Barrack Obama is proud
of himself. He sold America down the toilet by exchanging terrorists for
a traitor. One thing's for sure. There won't be a White House presser
proclaiming Bergdahl a hero this go around. He's a traitor and deserter
by his own admission. Case closed.
