Brit Hume remarked on
the criticism Mike Pence has received for walking out of an NFL game on
Sunday when several players knelt for the national anthem.
"People are accusing the vice president of carrying out a stunt, the Fox
News political analyst said on "America's Newsroom" Monday.
"The football players who are kneeling on the field during the anthem,
that's arguably a stunt as well," he pointed out.
"They have a right to protest. I would say the vice president has the
right to counter-protest, which is what happened."
The vice president and his wife Karen walked out of a San Francisco
49ers and Indianapolis Colts game Sunday, saying he doesn't think it is
"too much to ask" for people to respect the anthem.
"POTUS and I will not dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers,
our Flag, or our National Anthem," Pence tweeted about his decision. |
